Dr. Hansen’s Equine Apothecary is more than just a business—it’s the culmination of years of passion, experience, and a commitment to improving equine care. As both a Clinical Hospital Pharmacist and a competitor in dressage, I understand the importance of using trusted, safe products that work. My products are free from USEF and FEI banned substances, so you can use them with confidence, whether you’re preparing for competition or treating your horse at home.
why my products work
At Dr. Hansen’s Equine Apothecary, each product is created with the same care and precision I use in my clinical work. Every formulation is the result of rigorous research, carefully selected ingredients, and a deep understanding of the equestrian world. My mission is simple: to provide horse owners with effective, practical solutions that help their horses heal and thrive. I don’t make a product unless I believe it will truly make a difference. That’s why our formulations are not only backed by science but designed specifically for the needs of horses.
MY CLINICAL JOURNEY
As both a dedicated Pharmacist and lifelong equestrian, I’ve always sought ways to combine my passion for horses with my expertise in pharmaceutical science. After obtaining my Doctorate of Pharmacy from Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, I gained invaluable experience in veterinary compounding at Fallon’s Wellness Pharmacy in Saratoga Springs, NY. Today, I work as a Lead Clinical Pharmacist at a world-renowned hospital system in Cleveland, OH, where I continue to hone my skills in evidence-based medicine.
the formulation inspiration
In 2014, after graduating from pharmacy school, I faced a dilemma many horse owners encounter—an effective equine wound product I trusted was no longer available. As a Pharmacist, I knew I could do more than just find a substitute. I wanted to create something better, and Formula 44 Ointment was born. This product was developed with the needs of horses in mind, offering a protective, long-lasting barrier that treats and shields wounds. Encouraged by barn friends and equestrian peers, I refined my formulas and expanded the line, always focusing on research-backed, pharmacist-developed solutions.
