I LOVE both the Formula 44 ointment and the Formula 44 spray for skin issues with my horses. I’ve used the ointment for scratches, rain rot, hock sores, cannon crud and wounds. I let the ointment sit for about 24 hrs to make sure it penetrates the rain rot, scratches and cannon crud thoroughly. Then the scabs can be removed easier & many times less painful. I tend to use the spray in the colder months if horses are delivered to me with skin issues during blanket season. The spray makes things less messy yet delivers the same results. I’ve used both products on many, many horses and I’ve never had 1 issue with reaction or sensitivity to either product. All of the issues I use these two products for have always come out with excellent results. I’ve never had to switch to a different product because it wasn’t doing it’s job. I would highly recommend either product to any horse owner.

Our mare sustained a nasty skin wound on the inside of her hock while in the pasture. We used the Formula 44 ointment on the wound, which not only helped it heal but also prevented scarring. We also used this product for cannon crud and tail rubbing and it worked amazingly well. It smells great too! Highly recommended!
I have been using both the spray and the ointment for about 2 weeks on my sensitive chestnut who struggles with crud on hind legs and crusty elbows. These products are definitely now a staple in our grooming box!
I use the spray on the hind leg crud after riding (once a day, 5 days a week) and it cleared it up completely within a week. We continue to use it periodically to prevent it from coming back. The ointment I use about every other day on his chapped and flaky elbows and that also is completely resolved and moisturized! I love how the ointment provides a protective barrier to keep moisture locked in for those dry areas, or places that have scabbed up. Highly recommend!
